🎙️“Understanding, Engaging, Changing” – Interview with Maria Vittoria Moncada Hernandez and Piyarat Punpoosa | PrEcIOUS ProjectHow did students from the University of Siena experience the international training week of the PrEcIOUS Project – Promoting pluralistic education to combat invisible discrimination in European universities? In this interview, Maria Vittoria Moncada Hernandez and Piyarat Punpoosa share their personal reflections: a meaningful exchange with peers from across Europe and a chance to explore themes often overlooked in university life, such as subtle homophobia and everyday microaggressions.🎓 “What we take away from this experience,” they explain, “is a wealth of human and cultural growth. We listened to stories very different from our own, engaged with new perspectives, and learned that inclusion isn’t abstract – it’s something we build every day, through small actions.”💡 The training gave them practical tools to better interpret the social context around them and to imagine ways of improving inclusion policies within their universities.Watch the full interview in the video below 🎥Project Info: www.preciousproject.eu/#PrEcIOUSproject #InclusiveUniversities #SienaMobility #LGBTQIAinHE #DiversityInAcademia #StudentVoicesMatter #EuropeanEducation See MoreSee Less

🎙️“Learning, Unlearning, and Connecting” – Interview with Gaia Ciccarelli | PrEcIOUS ProjectFrom 12 to 16 May 2025, the University of Siena hosted the in-person training week of the European project PrEcIOUS – Promoting pluralistic education to combat invisible discrimination in European universities. In this interview, Gaia Ciccarelli, project tutor at the hosting university, shares her reflections: “We welcomed students from Poland, Greece and Lithuania, alongside Italian and Erasmus students from the University of Siena. We worked through the project’s five key modules: stereotypes and prejudice, literacy, intersectionality, inclusive communication, and social context analysis.”📚 The training activities were enriched by the contributions of experts from Amnesty International, the No Hate Speech movement, legal professionals, and university lecturers. “The feedback has been extremely positive,” Gaia explains. “Students learned and unlearned through mutual exchange, reflecting on their cultural differences and university environments.”🌍 Group work allowed students to turn dialogue into concrete proposals to tackle invisible homophobia and foster more inclusive academic spaces.Watch the full interview in the video below 🎥Project Info: www.preciousproject.eu/#PrEcIOUSproject #InclusiveUniversities #SienaMobility #LGBTQIAinHE #DiversityInAcademia #StudentVoicesMatter #EuropeanEducation See MoreSee Less
